Whirlwind Weeks

I have been so busy in the last week and a half that I haven't had time to write. So much has happened that I don't even know where to start...

Work has been pretty hectic - In addition to the normal work, I was elected as a team captain for this thing called the CEO Cup. On one hand I am excited and ready to exhibit my leadership skills and on the other hand I feel like I am already pretty busy and this is another thing I need "to do". I am in charge of store layout and signage - should be an interesting time I guess.

Jen and Dallas (two of my best friends from back home) came down from RC on the 4th or so, it was a Friday. We (including Jer) went bowling the first night they were here at this little crapperama called Bowlero. Not a great neighborhood, but somewhat charming. Not bad for $12 all you can bowl from 10pm-2am - and it included shoes! Anyways, the beer was draught and sucked, but we had a great time. Our buddy Dallas got so drunk he was dancing on the lanes. I guess he was taking a shot and right as he had it in his mouth somebody in the bar said something funny that made him spit his shot of Crown and Red Bull all over the bar. Funny thing is, the bartendar gave him a free shot - and he definitely didn't need it! Then on Sunday we all went to Chatfield and hung out with some other back home friends, Josh and Shelly. She's expecting so she's a little moody, but very nice otherwise. The day was mostly spent at the Dog Park with Kona. Josh and Dallas went fishing and had a good time - they were smart enough to bring their swimming trunks. (Damn weatherman!)

Wednesday J&D, Jer, Josh and myself met up at this pub called Streets of London. Josh lied, he said it was only a few blocks up from the Fillmore, where we were all going for the Wu-Tang Clan concert later on. I had a pretty good burger, but it was a little undercooked for my liking - blood, yuck! Good thing it was dark in there and I already had some brew in me. After we were all done eating we trecked back to the Fillmore for the show. Mike and his bro John met up with us there. The show was awesome! It was the whole clan, less ODB (RIP). We all tore it up! J&D later said that Josh puked on the floor, which I didn't see happen thank goodness. Another thing I didn't see was some girl talking shit to me...I guess she was walking by me and I just moved out of her way, then she was like "yeah, you betta move out tha way"...at least that's what Jer said. It's a good thing I didn't know about it cause I was probably drunk enough to fight.

Thursday J&D, Mike, Jer and I all headed back home to RC. Mike and Jer had to go see Alice in Chains at the Buffalo Chip Campground. They were there for a little thing called the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. However, before we got to Sturgis and the Chip, we had to make a six and a half hour drive through Nebraska (state motto "The Good Life"). Once we got there we were all a little parched so we went to Uncle Sam's Casino, where we drank $1.75 bottles and played Keno on the video lottery machines. We all lost but managed to catch a pretty good buzz.

Friday Jen's sister Alissa joined us as we all headed to Deadwood, SD (and later festivites). We all had the itch for gambling and gambling is what we did. I didn't have much luck, but I play slots so it's always a game of chance. Right before we left I won $150 off of $20 on a penny machine...helped make up for the losses. After we alll had enough we started on towards Sturgis, where we ate, drank a beer or two, walked around and bought t-shirts. Not much excitement in the city so we headed out to the Chip. The Chip is about 5 miles east of Sturgis and it's basically a giant outdoor stage surrounded by vendor booths, porta potties and campgrounds. You can see Bear Butte just to the south. We decided to camp it there since it was included in the steeply priced Alice in Chains ticket ($56!) However, the concert and company made up for the price as we had a great time and got smashed off our cans. Mike and Alissa got along well so nobody felt awkward which was cool. They were even shot-gunning beers at 5:30am - Jer caught them. Jen & Dal danced the jitterbug to country music off in the yonder while I layed in my tent and laughed my butt off. All-in-all it was a good time!

Saturday was spent recuperating. I only had one working brain cell.

Today I'm back up to 3 functioning brain cells...can't wait until this weekend!

About Me

My photo
I was born and raised in Rapid City, SD. Loved growing up there and am a little sad that my theoretical kids won't be able to grow up there - unless, God forbid, I move back. I moved away for college to Omaha, NE. I went to Creighton University. Great education, great professors - not a good place for young people with an itch for action! I moved to Denver in August of 2004 and love it! I recommend that all people live in at least one other place besides their hometown - the world is so full of opportunities, we just have to move out of comfort zones!
