Dancing With The Stars

I'm sickeningly obsessed with Dancing with the Stars. I have absolutely no explanation for it, other than that I like to watch B-level stars strut their stuff in the hopes that they will have a career resurgence.

So, the season premiere of DWTS was on last night. There were some really good couples and then some horrific couples. My favorite of the night was probably Mario Lopez (yes, AC Slater baby!) He is so freaking hot and wearing those tight little dancer pants...ahhh, nice! I couldn't stop gushing to the bf about how nice Mario's butt looked...I felt bad, but whatever! Emmitt Smith was pretty good too...I'm waiting for them to put a white athlete on the show though, chances are the results will be much different, as we all know whities don't have as much rhythm (stereotype yes, but often true!) Emmitt danced right before 8pm, at which point my bf left the room...I wonder if they track ratings after the first hour in 2-hour shows. I would bet that viewership in males declined dramatically at that point.

My prediction on who is going to win: I'm betting it will be between Mario and Joey Lawrence (WHOA!)

Interviews

I hate interviews! I especially hate the part after you interview, where you have to wait for what seems like a bazillion years to hear whether or not you got the job...

I interviewed for a buyer assistant position over 2 weeks ago and I'm still waiting to find out if I got it. I'm frustrated because it was a position that I was approached and asked to interview for. I didn't seek it out, I didn't network for it, I didn't do anything accept submit an application after I was asked. Doesn't that generally mean they want you? I don't know, this corporate world I work in is way too confusing and frankly playing office politics sucks! At this point, I don't even know if I want to the job...I just want the money that comes with it!

Work really sucks right now. I hate advertising and everything related to it, including almost everybody in that department! (There are still a couple people that I like over there, but it's getting more scarce as this year wears on...)

I hate when my boss calls me with stupid questions and inquiries and treats me like I'm a dumbass. Nobody understands that my database runs sooooooo much slower than everyone else's. I dare them to work in my database for one day...they wouldn't be able to deal!

Thank goodness I've only got 43 minutes left of this day...

Halloween

Okay, so I know Halloween is still a couple months away, but I don't want to get stuck like I did last year with no costume and a party pooper bf...so, I've been pondering what to be and so far I have 2 ideas that are decent.

1. Wonder Woman - I think I can pull it off...we both have dark hair and I'm toned enough...the risk is whether or not the outfit would fit me.

2. A nerd - Very easy, very cheap and really not a stretch, lol. I'm thinking of modeling myself after Screech's gf Violet, played by Tori Spelling on Saved By the Bell (a weakness of mine every Sunday morning). Drawback there is that Jeremy wants to go as a nerd too and he thinks it's stupid to have a couple-matchy costume...

Labor Day Weekend

It's been a few weeks since I have written anything, but not much has happened. After we got back from the Rally, we had to start packing to move into our new apartment. We moved across town to the DTC area - I'm okay with it so far. So, we pretty much spent the last couple weeks packing and moving and un-packing, with a few moments of pleasure snuck in between.

I had to work Sniagrab on Saturday morning, it sucked. Longest 8 hours I've worked in awhile...but I managed to sell a couple hundred Camel-baks, so at least I had a purpose. I'm just glad that it freakin started already as it means the workload will shift a little...hoping to get a promotion and not have to deal with it soon!

Took my dog to the off-leash dog park today with Jer. I can't believe how far she can run and actually catch the frisbee thrown - it's amazing really! Alright, I'm getting lethargic from the awesome lasagna I ate...more later.

Whirlwind Weeks

I have been so busy in the last week and a half that I haven't had time to write. So much has happened that I don't even know where to start...

Work has been pretty hectic - In addition to the normal work, I was elected as a team captain for this thing called the CEO Cup. On one hand I am excited and ready to exhibit my leadership skills and on the other hand I feel like I am already pretty busy and this is another thing I need "to do". I am in charge of store layout and signage - should be an interesting time I guess.

Jen and Dallas (two of my best friends from back home) came down from RC on the 4th or so, it was a Friday. We (including Jer) went bowling the first night they were here at this little crapperama called Bowlero. Not a great neighborhood, but somewhat charming. Not bad for $12 all you can bowl from 10pm-2am - and it included shoes! Anyways, the beer was draught and sucked, but we had a great time. Our buddy Dallas got so drunk he was dancing on the lanes. I guess he was taking a shot and right as he had it in his mouth somebody in the bar said something funny that made him spit his shot of Crown and Red Bull all over the bar. Funny thing is, the bartendar gave him a free shot - and he definitely didn't need it! Then on Sunday we all went to Chatfield and hung out with some other back home friends, Josh and Shelly. She's expecting so she's a little moody, but very nice otherwise. The day was mostly spent at the Dog Park with Kona. Josh and Dallas went fishing and had a good time - they were smart enough to bring their swimming trunks. (Damn weatherman!)

Wednesday J&D, Jer, Josh and myself met up at this pub called Streets of London. Josh lied, he said it was only a few blocks up from the Fillmore, where we were all going for the Wu-Tang Clan concert later on. I had a pretty good burger, but it was a little undercooked for my liking - blood, yuck! Good thing it was dark in there and I already had some brew in me. After we were all done eating we trecked back to the Fillmore for the show. Mike and his bro John met up with us there. The show was awesome! It was the whole clan, less ODB (RIP). We all tore it up! J&D later said that Josh puked on the floor, which I didn't see happen thank goodness. Another thing I didn't see was some girl talking shit to me...I guess she was walking by me and I just moved out of her way, then she was like "yeah, you betta move out tha way"...at least that's what Jer said. It's a good thing I didn't know about it cause I was probably drunk enough to fight.

Thursday J&D, Mike, Jer and I all headed back home to RC. Mike and Jer had to go see Alice in Chains at the Buffalo Chip Campground. They were there for a little thing called the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. However, before we got to Sturgis and the Chip, we had to make a six and a half hour drive through Nebraska (state motto "The Good Life"). Once we got there we were all a little parched so we went to Uncle Sam's Casino, where we drank $1.75 bottles and played Keno on the video lottery machines. We all lost but managed to catch a pretty good buzz.

Friday Jen's sister Alissa joined us as we all headed to Deadwood, SD (and later festivites). We all had the itch for gambling and gambling is what we did. I didn't have much luck, but I play slots so it's always a game of chance. Right before we left I won $150 off of $20 on a penny machine...helped make up for the losses. After we alll had enough we started on towards Sturgis, where we ate, drank a beer or two, walked around and bought t-shirts. Not much excitement in the city so we headed out to the Chip. The Chip is about 5 miles east of Sturgis and it's basically a giant outdoor stage surrounded by vendor booths, porta potties and campgrounds. You can see Bear Butte just to the south. We decided to camp it there since it was included in the steeply priced Alice in Chains ticket ($56!) However, the concert and company made up for the price as we had a great time and got smashed off our cans. Mike and Alissa got along well so nobody felt awkward which was cool. They were even shot-gunning beers at 5:30am - Jer caught them. Jen & Dal danced the jitterbug to country music off in the yonder while I layed in my tent and laughed my butt off. All-in-all it was a good time!

Saturday was spent recuperating. I only had one working brain cell.

Today I'm back up to 3 functioning brain cells...can't wait until this weekend!

Ween

I am going to my first concert at Red Rocks tonight. The band's name is Ween. I don't really know the music but I'm going with some cool people so it should be a good time. I'll write tomorrow about the night...I'm 3 beers in and feeling good about it right now. :-)

Update: Many beers later the Ween concert came and went. I don't remember much of the concert as I was pretty smashed! It's great to know that at 25, I think I finally know my drinking limits though (on most occasions anyways). All in all, I'd say I had a pretty great time. Good company - consisted of the bf, our friends - Megan(TSA), Mike, Elza and John. Decent music...though there was this one weird part where the singer from the Flaming Lips was in a bubble and a bunch of dudes dressed as Santa Claus and some girls dressed as elves were carrying the guy in the bubble around the stage...very strange. If I were on hallucinogenics the concert would have been very extreme and entertaining, that's for sure!

Friday meetings

Who in the hell schedules a meeting on a Friday afternoon at 4pm??? LOSERS - or people that work in advertising. They all suck and I'm sick of them! I want to be able to sit at my computer and blog about how stupid they are for the last hour of my work week, not attend another pointless Sniagrab proof where nothing is different from the last one we saw! ARGH!!!

Okay, I feel a little better...I'm off to my pointless meeting...damn Sniagrab and everything related to it!

Computer Spaz

So tonight after work, Jer and I went to a bar called Dewey's for Kirsten's going away party. She is moving back to Cali, Santa Barbara I think she said. I know Kirstin from TSA - a receptionist friend. It was a good enough time, but I have been feeling pretty crappy lately and just haven't been in the mood to whoop it up. It sucks because summer is my favorite time to bbq and have fun! Instead I am stuck with a horrible cough and I refuse to go to the doctor at this point - I hate medicine unless it's a flavorless pill (despise vitamins cause they taste like shite!) I probably should go to the doctor...

When we got home tonight I got on the computer and found that all of my shortcuts had been deleted from the desk top. I freaked out a little bit..."where did all my stuff go???" Then I remembered that Jer was messing around on it the night before last - he deleted all my short cuts! It's now been about 20 minutes since then and I find myself sitting here, wondering why it's such a big deal...I think I'll chalk this one up to hormones...
Reasons why Mondays SUCK:

1. The weekend is over
2. The alarm always goes off way too early
3. Work - but work sucks in general
4. 5 days to get through until the next weekend
5. My puppy dog, Kona, has to stay in her kennel all day
6. I have to put on nice clothes and make-up vs. comfy shorts, t-shirts and no make-up
7. My favorite gossip blogs don't have any new dirt for me to read (I'm ridiculously interested in celebrities and their dirt...I get it from my granny, I'm convinced of it!)
8. I usually have to eat leftovers from Sunday dinner for lunch and I HATE leftovers

More to come later...suggestions always welcome!

Mondays

Don't you hate it when it's about 7 or 8pm on a Sunday night and the reality of "tomorrow's Monday" slaps you in the face!? Well, I do, and that's exactly what happened to me yesterday. I had a very long-short weekend, if that makes any sense.

My younger sister, Niki, was in town from Rapid City, SD on Saturday. She came down with some girlfriends that were going to the O.A.R. concert. She and one of her friends, Natalie, decided not to go as they didn't know the band very well and didn't have the cash to spend on a ticket. So, Jeremy (my long-term boytoy) and I cruised downtown to meet up with them for some drinks. Our friends, Kahlan and Mike, also met up with us - on a side note, they would be perfect together but there are circumstances that keep them apart :-( So, we ended up closing down the bar - I haven't done that in quite some time, but they're 21 so they probably do it every weekend! Isn't it sad to realize how old you're getting! Anyways, we ended up cruising back home and passing out around 3:30am...a late night for me!

Yesterday I woke up way too early, but the sis was up so we hung out in my living room and watched pointless shows on MTV while our mushy brains tried to suck in some oxygen and start functioning. We went to lunch at Panera - a favorite when I'm hungover - and took them to meet up with their other girlfriends so they could head back to SoDak. I love hanging out with my family but I get so damn lonesome when they leave!

Yesterday was also the 8-year anniversary of dating Jer. I can't believe we have been together for that long already! He is awesome, so the years have flown by...though I will admit these last couple years as just boyfriend/girlfriend have been difficult. Only because every freaking person I know is getting engaged and married...and now their starting to have kids! I'm still working on the getting engaged part! And while I realize that I am lucky to have found a great person, I am frustrated with how slow he is being at making it permanent...what's a girl to do other than wait or give an ultimatum? Personally I find ultimatums stupid and silly and I love this guy and think it would be dumb of me to throw it all away just because he hasn't put a ring on my finger...but when do I draw the line? Any advice on this matter is always appreciated.

Anyways, so we were supposed to go to dinner, but we ended up taking a 3 hour nap and didn't want to do much after that. We settled for home-made chicken noodle soup instead. All-in-all, I'd say it was a pretty good weekend...but damn Monday sucks! More specific reasons for Monday sucking will follow maybe this afternoon or tomorrow...

I'm finally a virgin!

Well, this is my first time writing a blog and I hope you will take it easy on me...my friend from work, Liz, has inspired me to start writing. Over the past few days I have been reading her blogs and I have learned a great deal about Liz, most of which I never knew before. I wish I had taken more time when we first met to get to know her. Nevertheless, we have started bonding and every day I find something else out about her, all intriguing and interesting on many levels.

So, what to write about...the list is endless and the hard part is figuring out where to start. Liz says that I just need to free-write and the more I do it, the easier it will all get. I haven't actually written anything for pleasure in years! I haven't written anything for non-pleasure since I graduated from college in 2004. I think it's time to start putting things in writing so that I have something to pass on to my family and friends, as well as future children!

About Me

My photo
I was born and raised in Rapid City, SD. Loved growing up there and am a little sad that my theoretical kids won't be able to grow up there - unless, God forbid, I move back. I moved away for college to Omaha, NE. I went to Creighton University. Great education, great professors - not a good place for young people with an itch for action! I moved to Denver in August of 2004 and love it! I recommend that all people live in at least one other place besides their hometown - the world is so full of opportunities, we just have to move out of comfort zones!
